10 Materia ஃ Action / Voice

[This morning has been has been a bit odd. This little ninja was not home in Wutai! She had been kidnapped! By who, she didn't know, because strangly enough, there were no guards at her door when she went to check, and she can't spot a single guard outside. So apparently they just suck at kidnapping Wutai's greatest ninja! She could find her way home no problem!

But just outside her door, she finds something.]

M-MATERIA!!! The kidnappers here are just idiots!

[So much materia (Really just more than she's ever seen) and there was nobody guarding it. It couldn't get anymore perfect than this! Well no, that's a bit of a lie. As she grabbed the two bracelets that held most of the materia, and they didn't quite fit, but that wouldn't stop her. Instead she put as much as she could in her pockets, and even a few in her hood. And finally using the book to hold up the last of it.

Now it was time to get out of here! She ran as fast as she could down the stairs, but once she got going she hit the door leading outside quite awkwardly, and ends up with materia everywhere.]

Stupid door! When I get back, you're going to be knocked down!

[And if you've ever seen a kid go for the candy that just flew out out of a pinata, that's exactly what this nine-year-old is doing.]

[He hesitated for a second, staring at the shiny balls that had rolled to by his feet, but after looking over at the girl who seemed to be rather frantic to pick them up, he got over himself enough to help, the six year old carefully loading them into his arm as he made his way toward her.]

[materiathief]

[It takes her until finishing grabbing the rest that she notices him. And she just points at him, even if he is walking towards her.]

You better not think of stealing those!

[teachingpeace]

I don't even know what they are. [She couldn't see them, but his eyes were wide, and he paused mid lean, having to scramble to keep from dropping them all because of it.]

[materiathief]

They're materia of course! They're gonna help me save Wutai! [She'll even hold out her hands so he can hand them over. She's not a fan of someone else holding them.]

[teachingpeace]

[Once he managed to right himself, he edged over, not exactly thrilled to get into the bigger child's space, but he started to hand them over anyway.] What do they do?

[materiathief]

[Good! All the materia is back. It may be akward to hold, but they're important! Especially the red one.]

Magic. How can you not know about materia?

[teachingpeace]

Magic is what people call what shinobi do, but it's not magic. [He paused, then shook his head really hard.] Don't want to talk about shinobi right now though, um. Those do magic how?

[materiathief]

I don't know how, but they just do!

...Wanna see? [She still isn't exactly sure how they worked either, but in the end she's always managed to get one to work.]

[teachingpeace]

[He nodded at that, edging around so he was sort of to the side and a bit behind her.] Okay.

[materiathief]

Alright!

[She'll set down all the materia she isn't going to use. (Because for all she knows they could all go off at once.) And once she has the blizzard one in her hand, she flicks it at the nearest tree.

And nothing happens...for about a minute. Then within a few seconds, the trunk of the tree is covered in ice! And you can be Yuffie is pretty happy that worked!]

See! Neat huh?

[He just edged a bit more behind her, but there was curiosity written all over his face. It was an excellent distraction.]

How do you make it work?

[materiathief]

[She'll give it a minute of thought, but it doesn't help a bit.]

No idea. Just focus I guess.

[teachingpeace]

[He hesitated, then edged closer and peeked at the pile.] Would it work for me?

[materiathief]

[Yuffie stared at him, then back to the materia for a while. She was not happy at the thought that he could run away with one of them. But the kid didn't seem like he would...]

They work for anyone.

[teachingpeace]

I just... never heard of them before is all. [Oh no. He hoped he hadn't upset her. He smiled at her to try to show it was all okay.]

[materiathief]

[The smile would mean so much more if she could see his eyes...]

Where are you from? It must be a really little town for people to not know what they are.

[teachingpeace]

[Way to kill his smile there Yuffie. But he rallied quickly.]

I'm from Ame. S'called that because the rain goes on and on.

[materiathief]

[Sorry, she's a blunt kid.]

...Never heard of the place. Sorry.

It's fine, I never heard of Wutai. [Fair's fair, at least in his opinion.]

[materiathief]

Not too surprising. You look to young to even remember the war there. [And Wutai isn't talked about very much now anyway.]

[teachingpeace]

[He got really quiet then. After a moment, he took a deep breath.]

Remember war just fine. So the mater rocks?

[materiathief]

Was there a war where you come from? I guess Wutai can't get very much information about other places right now...

Materia...you want to try one?

[teachingpeace]

Yeah it was- my house... [He shook his head to clear it, then nodded.]

Can I?

[materiathief]

[She won't ask. She knows just how bad a war can be.

She'll hold out the ice one she just used.]

Just focus on what you wanna hit. It kinda does the rest.

[teachingpeace]

And ice comes out? [He lifted it up to stick his nose on it, paying attention to it this time. It felt... weird. But after a second, he eased forward and eyed a spot to focus on like she said, holding it out away from him. He didn't want to be iced.]
